Cicatrix

The Cicatrix series is an ongoing cooperative design project between maker and material. Each piece, taking anywhere from 50 to 120 hours to complete, is an act of love for process. The forms roughly resemble standard household items, and even present some function for use, yet intend to challenge any notion of standardization.

In the Cicatrix series, welding goes beyond just joining separate materials, it becomes the decorative act, the form rather than the function. Each laid bead not only lays out a mark like drawing but also deforms and reforms the aluminum into something more like fabric, or even skin.
